Avocado eaters have healthier diets. Eating avocado regularly helps you get more healthy fats, fibre and vitamin E in your diet.

Greater consumption of avocados was associated with higher consumption of monounsaturated fats, polyunsaturated fats, dietary fibre, vitamin E, magnesium and potassium, as well as whole grains, vegetables, fruit and meat alternatives food groups, and lower consumption of carbohydrates and discretionary foods.

Practice Tips

  • Avocados are nutritious core foods that add healthy fats, fibre and vitamin E to the diet however, only 15% of Australians consume them regularly and they eat small amounts.
  • Encourage regular consumption and higher serve sizes of ¼-½ avocado to enjoy the nutritional benefits.
